Our client, a leading global publishing services business that serves universities, research institutes, hospitals, Publishers and Pharma Companies, now seeks a commercially driven General Manager to lead the Japanese office.
We are searching for a well-networked and commercial leader to drive growth and business opportunities across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for driving regional growth for Japan both via B2B as well as B2C channels.
- Responsible for driving planned strategic growth projects (B2B as well as B2C) from time to time in close coordination with other stakeholders of the Japan office and HQ office leadership.
- Build and manage client relationships, strategic partnerships and relationships with universities, research institutes, hospitals, Publishers, Pharma Companies, other corporate entities etc. to promote our services and products (including AI-powered products)
- Opportunity to travel across the region with a focus on new business development and meeting existing high-value clients.
- Involvement in strategy development and execution for the region in line with our organisational goals and targets and close consultation with HQ-based senior management.
- Analyse and brief in-house departments (such as Marketing, Client Servicing, CRM etc.) on Japan regional trends/insights, competitor landscape, business environment about our target segments, policies changes/enhancement etc. that may affect the company’s operations, sales target and overall growth.
- Attend Academic workshops, conferences and events to represent the organisation within Japan.
- Should be comfortable in dealing with mid and senior-leadership-level contacts in Academia and Corporate segment regularly.
- Should generate new B2B leads through cold calls and emails.
- Should have exposure to Sales CRM.
- Need to travel extensively within your defined region and make business trips to the HQ office as and when required.
Skills & Experience:
- Sales experience (High-value/Revenue) within the STM/Academic domain in Japan
- Upselling and Cross-selling leading to new revenue generations
- Lead generation – Key Account Management – Existing B2B Growth
- Independent, driven, quick to adapt, and good at problem-solving
- Exposure to Sales CRM
- Experience in selling technology solutions / SaaS enterprise sales would be an added advantage.
- Fluent in English
