The Biochemical Society welcomes Phil Morgan as our new Chief Executive Officer. Phil takes over from Kate Baillie, who retired last week after more than 12 years in the role.
Phil brings his previous experience as the CEO of The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) to the Society, where during his four and a half years in post, he oversaw the transformation of the organization’s strategic direction, delivered growth across all areas, and managed the challenges from open access.
Professor Dame Julia Goodfellow, President of the Biochemical Society says:
“I am delighted to welcome Phil as CEO of the Biochemical Society. He joins us at an exciting time as we enter our next strategic period and look to build on the incredible work we have already undertaken across the sector. I look forward to working closely with Phil in his new role.”
Of his new role, Phil says:
“Filling Kate’s shoes is an almost unenviable task. I can see the difference she has made and the high regard in which she is held. However, Kate and the Senior Management Team have been really generous with their time in getting me up to speed. I am looking forward to getting started and meeting members, volunteers and staff in the weeks ahead.”
Society staff, Committees, Panels and Boards are all looking forward to working closely with Phil over the coming months, as he continues work to deliver the Society’s strategic objectives in support of the molecular bioscience community.
