Salary: $130,000 Basic + Commission
Our client, an award-winning digital publishing platform, primarily serving the STM and Academic publishing market, is looking for a new Director of Platform Sales.
The role will combine gathering market intelligence, being a promotional figurehead in the marketplace, and actively generating sales opportunities for the hosting business. The role is diverse and challenging and will suit a multi-skilled individual with varied and extensive cross-platform/industry knowledge, who is used to achieving a high level of competency and demonstrable results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Have a deep knowledge about, and a rich network within, academic publishing, ideally with expertise in books, journals and STM publishing. A knowledge of commercial publishing and content production services would be a bonus.
- Be a recognisable figure and an influential communicator within publishing, whose views carry weight across the industry. An established record of public speaking is preferable.
- Be familiar with selling software, software-as-a-service and professional services and have a track record of successful selling in the STM market.
- Have insights into publishing platform innovations to help shape client offerings and deliver a more consultative set of services.
- Be a practical, hands-on, action-oriented person, who can take on a variety of roles, and work both collaboratively within a small team and independently without close supervision.
- Meet with third-party technology and publishing service partners to gather information about various offerings and when appropriate, make the business case for integrations with select third parties to ensure that platform development is both anticipating and responding to market needs.
- Develop cross-selling opportunities across company products
Skills & Experience:
- Have at least 10 years of working experience in STM Publishing / Academic publishing with professional development training, and vocational skills in Sales & Marketing.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent track record for building and maintaining customer relationships required
- Understanding of business strategy in scholarly publishing required
