Springer Nature Group’s Chief Executive Officer Frank Vrancken Peeters has announced changes to the company’s Management Board and Executive Team.
Following a remarkable year of achievements – given the challenging environment – including the completion of major transformative agreements (including those with Projekt DEAL in Germany and with the University of California in the US), Charlotte Liu has decided to leave Springer Nature for personal reasons.
Carolyn Honour, currently Managing Director of Springer Healthcare, will take up the role of Chief Commercial Officer of Springer Nature and will be a member of both the Management Board and Executive Team, with effect from 18 January. Carolyn, a dual US/UK citizen, joined Springer Science+Business Media in 2009 and in her most recent role has transformed Springer Healthcare from a traditional reprints business to a successful client-facing, digital medical communications and education business. She will continue to be based in New York.
Fabian Kaufmann, Managing Director of Springer Medizin will assume additional responsibilities as Managing Director of Springer Healthcare to more closely align the company’s services to medical specialists and the global pharmaceutical industry.
Frank Vrancken Peeters commented: “Carolyn Honour is an extremely talented leader with a deep knowledge of the research business and is an excellent addition to our strong Executive and Management Board team. We will miss Charlotte’s commercial and leadership skills, and we wish her the best for the future.”
Carolyn Honour said: “I am excited to take on this new challenge, taking the leadership and commercial experiences I’ve gained in Springer Healthcare back into the research publishing business where I began my time at Springer. The sales and marketing organisation has achieved many successes in the past year, supporting customers during unprecedented times and I’m looking forward to working more closely with such a committed team.”
