Springer Publishing are pleased to announce the merger of two independent and rapidly growing publishing companies, both owned by Mannheim Media LLC. As of January 1, 2015 the Springer Publishing Company and Demos Medical Publishing have been combined into one company under the Springer Publishing Company corporate name. Demos Medical Publishing will continue as an imprint of Springer Publishing.
The merger will enable the combined company to focus strongly on its core markets and strengthen the company’s position in both the STM and academic textbook markets. The long-term strategic focus and mission of the company has been to serve the needs of the “health care and helping professions.” The combined company will now publish books (both print and electronic), journals, and digital products for the medical, nursing, and social science markets including psychology, counseling, social work, gerontology, public health, and health administration.
Both companies have achieved rapid growth over the past 10 years. CEO Ted Nardin stated “This new organization will enable us to continue the rapid growth of both publishing programs. Our hallmarks have been aggressive and creative publishing, marketing, and sales. We are especially excited about the combined company’s strengthened ability to continue to employ digital technologies in all aspects of our business from product development through production, distribution, marketing, and sales.” In addition to ebooks and enhanced ebooks, the company has developed apps and other digital products (on DVD and downloadable) as well as digital ancillaries for professionals, instructors, and students.
Both companies achieved growth in 2014 well above industry averages and expect to continue at that level in 2015 as a combined company.
